Getting Paid

How the payroll week works, when you get paid, and how your pay reaches you.

1Payroll Work Week

  • Our payroll work week runs Monday through Sunday.

2Payday

  • Payday is every Friday.
  • You are paid for hours worked during the previous payroll week (Monday through Sunday).

Because pay is always a week behind, you may not receive a check your first week of work.

3Pay Options

  • Your pay method is selected and documented during onboarding.
  • Paper check is not a pay method you can select during onboarding.
  • Paper checks are issued only when your selected pay method is not yet active or in other limited situations.
  • Direct Deposit
  • Pay Card / Debit Card
  • Paper Check is not a selectable pay method

4Direct Deposit

  • You may see a $0.01 bank verification deposit.
  • Activation may take up to 3 weeks, depending on your financial institution.
  • If direct deposit is still processing on payday, you may receive a paper check until it becomes active.

5Pay Card / Debit Card

  • You may activate your card after 3 business days.
  • Pay loads to the card every Friday once it is active.
  • Use Allpoint ATMs to help avoid ATM fees.
  • A paper check is not a selectable pay option during onboarding.

Attendance & Call-Offs

Reliability is how you earn long-term assignments, get hired on, and stay eligible for future placements.

7First 30 Days: Attendance

  • No call offs during the first 30 days of an assignment.
  • Your first week is especially important for earning a long term assignment.
  • Perfect attendance and reliability affect your success on the assignment, your potential to be hired by the client, and your eligibility for future placements.

8Call Off Procedure

  • No call offs during the first 30 days of an assignment (see Section 7).
  • After 30 days, if you cannot report to work, call Express at (314) 692-0600 at least 2 hours before your shift.
  • Follow the instructions provided by the attendance representative.

9Texts Do Not Count as a Call Off

  • A text message is not proper call off notification.
  • You are responsible for calling Express and following the proper attendance procedure.

10No Call / No Show

  • Failing to properly notify Express that you will not report to work may be considered a No Call / No Show (NCNS).
  • An NCNS may end your assignment and affect your eligibility for future placements.

On the Job

Rules that apply at every client site.

11Cell Phone Policy

  • Your phone must be put away during working hours unless the client specifically authorizes its use.
  • Use it only during approved breaks or as the client permits.
  • Not following the client's policy may result in corrective action or removal from the assignment.

12Zero Tolerance: Marijuana Use

  • Using, possessing, or being under the influence of marijuana in any form (smoking, vaping, edibles) during work hours is strictly prohibited.
  • This includes breaks and meal periods, and applies anywhere on client property, including parking lots and vehicles.
  • Legal status does not change this policy.
  • Any violation will result in immediate removal from the assignment and may end your eligibility for future placements.

13Zero Tolerance: Marijuana Odor

  • Reporting to work, or returning from a break, with a noticeable marijuana odor is not permitted.
  • If a client or Express staff member notices a marijuana odor, you will be removed from the assignment.
  • Removal for odor may affect your eligibility for future placements.
